Lost in Japan: Food, History & Adventure

Modern Art Exhibition with two main themes - water and garden. As this is an immersive experience, you will walk through water at one point that can reach up to your knees. Note: There is no chance to have food or drinks once you enter.

Kiyamachi-Dori street is nice if walking through this area as it runs along the river and has small pedestrian bridges that make a nice photo.

Small, narrow streets of tiny bars seating only a handful of people, have a drink with some yakitori and interact with the locals! Many of these bars do have a cover charge and they're not the cheapest but a must do experience while in Tokyo.

Nice street to stroll down with lots of traditional Japanese architecture and a view of the temple at the end.

Beautiful park and Japanese gardens that you can enter for a small fee (500 yen per person).

Huge Snorlax in entrance, this Pokemon centre is good for shopping as less busy than the one in Shibuya. Free to get in and can buy packs of Pokémon cards for £1.50 each.

Incredible 360 degree views over Tokyo from the observation deck at the top of the tower.

Reasonably priced hotel situated near Lake Kawaguchiko that offers Japanese style rooms and has a tattoo friendly onsen!

Nice cafe for a coffee / refreshments and next to the Kimono Forest which light up at night by the Arashiyama train station.

Anime and electronics area that has lots of arcades which are so much fun and designed for adults more than kids.

View the famous busy crossing in Shibuya for free from the bridge above it.

Tourist shopping street with lots of unique cafes. The arch to this shopping street also displays live video footage so you can smile and wave at yourself as you enter.

Vibrant and bustling street with a giant Godzilla head visible from the top of a building. Great photo spot here as you look back down central street.

Huge and iconic Japanese discount store that is open 24hrs, these stores can be found all over Japan but this is the largest and before you know it you'll have the theme tune stuck in your head!

Must visit to see and feed the bowing deer! This park is only a short walk from the train station and there are lots of vendors near the park entrance selling crackers to feed the deer, they all charge the same fixed price but you'll need to pay with cash. There are also multiple shrines, botanical gardens and tea houses around the park so there's plenty to explore too!

Famous Shinto shrine with a path up the mountain through hundreds of traditional red gates. Top tip: Arrive as early as possible to avoid the crowds

Beautiful viewpoint over the river and valley below.

This wooden castle was built in 1603 and the grounds are lovely to stroll around, you can also pay more to go inside the castle itself too. Show your subway pass to get money off your entry ticket.

The whole Akihabara area is filled with gachapon and anime.
