Probably one of the most famous jazz venues in CDMX, so I’m telling you now: make a reservation if you want to experience an authentic jazz night as if you were in New Orleans. With a varied lineup every night, Zinco Jazz Club will become your favorite spot if jazz is your genre of choice. Whether you go with a partner, on a date, or with a small group of friends, everyone will thank you for introducing them to this bar. They also serve food!

If you were looking for an omakase experience in CDMX, Kill Bill is the spot. Reservations are mandatory since entry is group-based, if you’re not on the list, you don’t get in. Once inside, the sound, Japanese bar, and chefs immerse you in a unique, Japan-like experience. With excellent food quality, the music adds a special touch to enjoy the menu even more. Mostly jazz with some soul, the musical quality is something to admire. A must for sushi and music lovers.

Right on Álvaro Obregón Avenue you’ll find a restaurant/bar/listening room that has a little bit of everything: signature drinks, delicious food, and most importantly, a vinyl selection that plays throughout the day. Although the collection is small, it’s the perfect touch to make this a must-visit. Every week they post the “musical menu” on Instagram, featuring jazz, funk, and electronic music for a unique experience.

Café de Nadie
A restaurant/bar with a very original gastronomic proposal. Speaking of music, it’s one of those places with unique selections (more than 1,500 vinyl records!!!) so the music–food mix easily earns five stars. Whether you want coffee, a beer, or simply to enjoy the food, Café de Nadie won’t disappoint with its musical selection. Occasionally they host guest DJs. I recommend booking a table, although it’s not mandatory.

Cicatriz
One of my favorite places in the entire city, this bar is a gem in Plaza Washington. Intimate and unique, Cicatriz is a small bar with a delicious food menu. The music elevates the night beautifully, and it’s the perfect spot for a first date because the volume is just right. The drinks are wild—I recommend the Yoko, a mezcal and Aperol Spritz mix that you’ll fall in love with. They don’t take reservations, so keep that in mind.

Emilio Dondé & Balderas
Not a venue per se, but this street is full of vinyl stands at great prices. From collectors to casual music lovers, you’ll find gems you haven’t seen in years. Prices range from $50 MXN to $500 MXN, and if your goal is to expand your vinyl collection, you absolutely have to come here.

A café/bar in the heart of Roma Norte inspired by New York cafés. Perfect for brunch and coffee while you read your favorite book and listen to an upbeat vinyl selection. Although it’s not meant to be a listening room, it’s a must when you want a calm morning/afternoon with a great atmosphere.

To describe this place, you really need the phrase “all in one,” because it’s a restaurant, bar, dance floor with a DJ, concept store, and cinema. The best time to go is at night—to have dinner and drinks with friends, then head to the dance floor where electronic music will make you dance without fail. A unique concept just one block from Mercado Roma that you and your friends will absolutely love.

A casual bistro founded by friends in honor of one of their friends, “Berta”—specifically without an H. The food menu, I dare say, is one of the best in the area, with unmissable sourdough bread and butter. The place is super cozy—perfect for a date or dinner with friends while the music makes you sing along, thanks to a vinyl collection that includes Britney Spears, Shakira, and plenty of 2000s pop that millennials will adore.

Cantina Lupita
Just a few months after opening, Cantina Lupita has already become one of the most talked-about places for an unforgettable night. Like Cananea, it’s inspired by classic cantinas and also has a jukebox where you pick the music. There’s also a pool table and big tables for groups, making the cantina vibe irresistible. I recommend booking if you want a large table, but if you’re in a small group (2–3 people), you can walk in and grab a beer at the bar.

This place specializes in brunch and coffee. But the musical selection that plays throughout the restaurant makes the coffee taste even better. At night it turns into a wine bar, which makes the place extra special. With very “aesthetic” decor, chilled wine, and a HI-FI sound system (high quality), your date or hangout with friends will become an unforgettable night.
