Small Centro Histórico taquería on Simón Bolívar, famous for suadero en cazo and featured on Netflix’s Taco Chronicles. Visited by Anthony Bourdain. Start with suadero, then try lengua, tripa, cabeza, cachete or molleja. They seem to be known for their more exotic/offal meat cuts, and have several salsas you can access at the counter.

  • Tips:
    Order suadero and add one de lengua to compare. La salsa de aguacate con habanero is strong so switch to salsa verde if needed. Ask for horchata between spicy bites.

Tacos Dorados 2 de abril
At the oldest market of Mexico City, you can find barbacoa tacos, soft or deep fried with cream, fresh cheese and chile pasilla salsa. I love to pair them with refresco rojo, a soda with a hint of currant.
Barra Lupe
This bar has amazing menu of Mexican antojitos. My favorite on the taco section are diezmillo (beef) tacos with cheese and avocado.
Taquería Orinoco
If you like chicharron, you are in the best place to grab a taco of pork grinds. The only thing I have to clarify is that this chicharron is prepared in the northern way: deep-fried bites of skin and pork meat, which in Spain are called torreznos. It´s pretty sure that if you go there after 5 pm you´ll wait in line for 10 minutes to get your table, but it's worth it!

El Califa de León
More than seventy years of doing four tacos and doing them right. Gaonera is the icon, thin fillet seared fast and laid gently on a warm tortilla. Bistec, costilla, and chuleta complete a tight set with no extras needed. Few options but worth the wait in this Michelin star rated restaurant.

Lively counter energy with al pastor that turns heads and a lineup of classics. Sirloin and suadero come juicy with a light char, and there is always a good stew if you want a spoon and tortilla moment. Avocado shows up often for that creamy finish. It stays busy because the flavor is big and consistent. Night bites are especially fun.

Smoke, sear, and slow cooking meet in San Rafael. Cochinita pibil is soft and fragrant, pork belly comes glazed and rich, and tatemado notes add depth. You can build tacos from cuts or go straight into stews like entomatada. The room is cozy, lights warm, music low.

An authentic spot serving Northern Mexican home cooking since 1946. Chilorio is rich and fragrant, machaca comes tender and salty, and tacos de cabrito feel like a Sunday visit up north. La Sirloinería
Modern sirloin house where meat takes the lead. The Caramelo is a cheese crust with meat that cracks then melts. They even do a double sirloin smash burger with a touch of trompo. Pork belly is also a delicacy here.
El Chepe - tacos, cortes, hotdogs, snacks, mixología.
A lively place for tacos, cortes, hotdogs, snacks, and a proper cocktail list, with a team that welcomes you right away. Start with the choripan to open the appetite. Then share a round of tacos from the grill and add a classic hotdog. Service is quick and friendly, flavors are direct, and portions are generous. Cocktails are well balanced, so order one and take it slow. If you like games, they even have boules to try.

A little gem and one of those places you’d probably walk past without noticing, but trust us, you need to stop in. It’s a tiny, family-run joint where the food is as authentic as it gets. We grabbed a seat at a small table, and when the satay hit the table, we knew we were in for a treat. Perfectly grilled, smoky, and packed with flavor. The nasi goreng had just the right amount of kick too. It’s the kind of place that reminds you why simple, local food is always a win.

This restaurant is the only one open till late in Selfoss, and it has amazing quality food. The portions are nice, the flavors on spot.
Centrum Kitchen & Bar
This restaurant has a menu that changes often and with dishes that mix different flavors. The prawns are delicious if you want to taste some sea flavor. If not, their burger is also a classic. A little pricey but so good.
