Conse – Homage to Makha Diop / “Conse Andechaga” Mural

By @artquemy

At the end of April 2021, a new permanent mural by Catalan artist Conse appeared in El Raval as a tribute to Makha Diop (Thiès, Senegal, 1958 – Barcelona, 2020), a neighborhood activist known for his sand paintings on Las Ramblas. The project, promoted by the sociocultural association FILS, aims to make the African community visible through its cultural heritage, complemented by conferences and debates. The mural is located on Calle Ramelleres, in the so-called “Plaza del Guaje,” and references a historic nearby bar. It stands out for celebrating collective memory and Diop’s contribution to the neighborhood.

Address: Carrer de les Ramelleres, 21, Ciutat Vella, 08001 Barcelona, Spain
