One of the world’s largest and most famous flea markets / brocantes. It has more than 3,000 vendors, and offers a broad selection of antiques, vintage clothing, art, and unique collectibles.

Legendary épicerie/gourmet store in the heart of Paris, just a few meters away from Rue Montorgueil.

Just a short distance from Louvre and Notre-Dame, you’ll find this gorgeous cathedral, without any crowds. Go inside for a quiet moment surrounded by stunning architecture, in a historic building that tourists usually miss out on.

The botanical garden, a lush haven of different plants. At its most beautiful in May – July, I think. Here you also find the National Museum of Natural History, one of my other recommendations here.

Easy to love, easy to miss out on. In the quiet side streets stretching out from Rue Montorgeil, you find several good bars and restaurants. One of them is Le Chardonnay, a neighbourhood bistro characterized by good, traditional food and a lively atmosphere.

I love staying here. Chamar is a relatively small boutique hotel in the 9th arrondissement – recently renovated, and always clean and comfortable. The rooms are pretty, and service is good. Warmly recommended.

A lesser-known, stunning passage close to Le Marais and Rue Montorgueil. Here, you’ll find charming, little shops selling yarn, jewelry, art, and more.

For several years, Septime has been featured on the list of the world’s 50 best restaurants. It didn’t let us down. I warmly recommend it for the food, wine and service, although all of that was expected to be great. For me, the atmosphere was the most positive surprise. In fine dining restaurants, I tend to find it a bit too formal. Septime feels like a warm hug. Note that to get a table, you have to be ready to book online the second they open the new dates, currently it’s 21 days in advance at 10 am Paris time. The tables are gone in seconds, so plan ahead and be really quick.

Walk along the peaceful canal and have a meal or glass at a local restaurant. A trendy and quite different neighbourhood where you’ll mostly find locals.

Hip, relaxed specialty coffee bar near Canal Saint-Martin.

Tucked away in Le Marais, this museum offers a fascinating glimpse into France’s history. Housed in the stunning Hôtel de Soubise, it showcases historical documents, including the original Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen. The museum’s gardens are also a delight and open to the public (free entrance).

A trendy, quality-focused gift shop. They say it’s for men, but I find a lot of items tempting me as a woman too.

French clothing and accessories brand for men. High quality, medium priced. Several stores across Paris.

It’s not a stock market, but a stunning art gallery. After years of renovation, it reopened in 2021, showing The Pinault Collection of art and installations. A warm recommendation, as the building is magnificent in itself, and located in the heart of Paris. The exhibitions are excellent too.

Legendary bistro, famous for its atmosphere and pepper steak. Note that the best way to reserve is to drop by in person between lunch and dinner. It’s also possible to call, but don’t even try to reach them during busy hours.

An excellent bistro in the 9th arrondissement. A perfect place for an evening with someone you care about.

As I believe in detours and not having too many plans, I rarely say that you must do this and that. But if you’re walking around enjoying Paris, you’re likely to pass by Palais-Royal anyway, and it’s such a wonderful place. This art installation, the garden next to it, and the palais surrounding it all. Go there, enjoy it.

Traditional, charming bistro in Le Marais, near Place des Vosges. If you’re into chocolate mousse, you should definitely order it here. Note that this place has become well-known in recent years, so it’s usually a good idea to book a table even though it’s an informal neighbourhood restaurant.

A place to go if you’re into pretty notebooks and creativity. One of several inspiring shops in the Oberkampf area.

Excellent, chic seafood bar/restaurant, located next to its even more famous sister restaurant Septime, which I also recommend here. No reservations.

A nice bistrot suitable for any meal of the day, a coffee or apéro.

A stunning museum you can enter for free. Make sure to visit the garden as well, especially in the spring. One of my top recommendations among the Parisian museums.

A lovely neighbourhood restaurant near Rue Montorgueil. Perfect for apéro too.

One of the most popular Parisian concept stores, known for its mix of homeware, trendy clothes, accessories and other items. Merci also has a book café, and is famous for its red Fiat 500 by the entrance.

Soft, lovely cashmere in beautiful colours. Clothes and accessories for women and men.

The gorgeous national library, located just a few steps away from Palais-Royal. Famous for its oval room, la Salle Ovale, open to the public and with free admission. If you visit during the summer months, you should also take some time to enjoy the garden.

Known for its colourful houses, this charming street looks more like London than Paris. Feels a bit like a little neighbourhood of its own.

Beautiful park, loved by the locals.

At several locations across Paris, Judy offers delicious gluten-free food. A nice place to go for a healthy lunch or breakfast.

A beautiful, modern hotel located perfectly next to Le Marais. It has a rooftop terrace too, available for both residents and others. Unfortunately, this hotel has become quite expensive.

Love the atmosphere, the food and the service. Located next to Canal Saint-Martin. If the weather is good, sit outside in the morning. You’ll have the sun on your face and see locals biking by on their work commute.
