In Parc Joan Miró you meet a tall, colorful sculpture by Joan Miró that rises above the trees like a signal. It stands 22 meters high and is clad in bright ceramic trencadís laid by his collaborator Joan Gardy Artigas. The work was dedicated in 1983 in the park that occupies the old city slaughterhouse grounds, a quiet green space with palms and pines a short walk from Plaça d’Espanya.

Address: Carrer de Tarragona, 76, L'Eixample, 08015 Barcelona, Spain

  • Why go

A clear, outdoor Miró in the everyday city. Primary colors, curves and a crescent-like form at the top show his playful language at monumental scale. Fewer crowds than the waterfront pieces.

  • Known for

A 22-metre Miró covered in ceramic mosaic, made with Joan Gardy Artigas.

  • Vibe

Open and calm. Trees, benches and a bright Miró that invites you to slow down and look up.

  • Tips

Come early or near sunset for soft light on the tiles. Walk the paved lower terrace and circle the piece to see how it shifts against the sky and the park’s small lake. Read the park panels about its past as Parc de l’Escorxador to understand the setting.
