Parròquia de Sant Pacià

By @hanneolsen

In Sant Andreu you find a quiet neo-Gothic church with an early work by Antoni Gaudí at your feet. Joan Torras Guardiola designed the church and asked his former student to draw the floor mosaic. It runs along the central nave and transept with floral and geometric motifs and the initials J and M from the original convent school.

Address: Carrer del Vallès, 30-32, Sant Andreu, 08030 Barcelona, Spain

  • Why go

A hidden Gaudí. Fewer visitors, clear architecture and a mosaic that tells the story of teacher and pupil.

  • Known for

The marble and stoneware floor designed by Gaudí with floral, geometric motifs and the letters J and M.

  • Vibe

Calm and local. Brick outside, light inside, and a floor that makes you look down.

  • Tips

Check opening hours in advance as the church is not always open. Look closely at the colours and the tile work before the altar. Combine the visit with a walk around Sant Andreu or nearby Fabra i Coats.
