Gyukatsu Motomura
By @tabimawari
A well-known chain specializing in gyūkatsu (breaded beef cutlet), extremely popular in Osaka—especially around Namba and Umeda. Their signature dish features a tender beef fillet, lightly breaded and flash-fried, served rare so you can sear it to your liking on a small personal hot stone grill. The experience is both flavorful and interactive, with sauces, unlimited barley rice, miso soup, shredded cabbage, and sides like tororo (grated yam). Entrance fee: None – Standard set (130 g): ~¥1,400–¥1,600 – Double set (260 g): ~¥2,200–¥2,700 – Add-ons: tororo, egg, dessert ~¥100–¥300 Touristy?: Moderately touristy. Very popular among both travelers and Japanese foodies. Expect lines during peak hours, especially at the small Namba location (about 20 seats). English menus available.
