Goðafoss Waterfall
By @thebritishexplorer
One of North Iceland’s most famous waterfalls. The name means Waterfall of the Gods. Legend tells of a chieftain who threw his pagan idols into the falls when Iceland turned to Christianity. Easy to reach from the Ring Road. 🌊
Address: Goðafoss Waterfall, 645, Iceland
Why go
It is a powerful horseshoe shaped cascade with a great story behind the name. Very accessible for quick stops and longer photo sessions.
Vibe
Epic. Powerful. Historical.
Tips
I recommend viewing from both the east and west sides for different perspectives. Rocks can be slippery near the edge so watch your footing.
