Diamond Beach
By @thebritishexplorer
A black sand beach across from Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon. Icebergs drift out, wash back in, and land on the shore. The ocean polishes the ice so it glitters like diamonds on jet black sand.
Address: Diamond Beach, 781, Iceland
Why go
For the breathtaking contrast of clear and electric blue ice scattered like jewels on dark sand. Seals sometimes lounge on the ice or swim near the shore.
Vibe
Surreal. Dynamic.
Tips
I recommend checking both sides of the road as the scene shifts with tides and weather. The size and number of ice chunks change daily.
