Iceland - Reykjavík

Tjörnin

By @thebritishexplorer

A small lake in the heart of Reykjavík known simply as The Pond. Loved by locals for walks and birdwatching. In winter parts freeze for ice skating while one corner stays warm from geothermal water. 🦢

Address: Tjörnin, 101 Reykjavík, Iceland

  • Why go

It is a peaceful green space with swans, ducks and geese, right next to City Hall.

  • Vibe

    Peaceful. Scenic.

  • Tips

I recommend visiting the warm corner in the cold months to see birds gathered where the water stays open.
