Iceland - Reykjavík
Hallgrimskirkja
By @thebritishexplorer
Reykjavík’s iconic church and the city’s best viewpoint. Designed to echo Iceland’s basalt columns and mountain forms. Completed in 1986 and visible from almost everywhere in town. ⛪️
Address: Hallgrímstorg 1, 101 Reykjavík, Iceland
Why go
It is a powerful piece of architecture and the tower offers a 360 degree view over rooftops, harbour and mountains.
Vibe
Majestic. Architectural.
Tips
I recommend taking the lift to the tower for photos. Look for the statue of Leif Erikson in front, a gift from the United States.
