Iceland - Hveragerði

Konungshver

By @thebritishexplorer

A large hot spring pool in the Geysir Geothermal Area. The name means King’s Spring, after King Christian IX who visited in 1874. Clear water at near boiling shows the heat beneath even when the surface is calm. 🌋

Address: 8M7X+G8M, 806, Iceland

  • Why go

It is a historic feature that complements nearby Strokkur and the Great Geysir within the same geothermal park.

  • Vibe

    Historic. Hot.

  • Tips

I recommend pairing your visit with a slow walk around the area to see the full range of pools and vents.
