Iceland - Vík í Mýrdal
Reynisdrangar
By @thebritishexplorer
Dramatic basalt sea stacks just off Iceland’s South Coast. Best seen from Reynisfjara Beach. The columns are the remains of a larger cliff carved by the Atlantic over time. Local folklore says they are petrified trolls. 🌊🗿
Address: CX34+5P2, Vik, Iceland
Why go
The sight of three rocky pillars rising from the waves is a brilliant photo moment with a great legend behind it.
Vibe
Mythic. Dramatic. Iconic.
Tips
I recommend viewing them from Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach and keeping a safe distance from the water. The waves here are extremely dangerous.
